6. User-Generated Content

Your Content

By posting content (reviews, photos, comments, Quran reflections, Tarawih venue submissions, mosque verifications, and other community contributions), you grant HalalHQ a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to use, modify, publicly display, reproduce, and distribute such content on our Service.

Content Responsibility

You retain ownership of your content and are solely responsible for it. You represent that you have the right to post the content and that it doesn't violate any third-party rights.

Private Notes

Certain features allow you to save private notes (such as personal Quran reflections marked as "private"). Private notes are visible only to you and are not displayed to other users or included in public feeds. The licence granted above does not apply to private notes; however, we may access private notes for the purpose of enforcing these Terms, complying with legal obligations, or investigating reported violations.

Community Moderation

Public content (including reflections, reviews, and comments) is subject to automated filtering and community moderation. We may remove, hide, or restrict content that violates these Terms, our content standards, or applicable laws. Users may flag content they believe is inappropriate, and flagged content is reviewed by our moderation team. Repeated violations may result in account restrictions or termination.

Content Dispute and Takedown Procedure

If you believe content on our Service is false, defamatory, or violates your rights:

  1. Send a notice to [email protected] with:
    • • Identification of the content (URL and description)
    • • Explanation and supporting evidence
    • • Your contact information
    • • Good faith belief statement
  2. We will review within 5 business days
  3. We may remove, modify, or retain content at our discretion
  4. False takedown requests may result in account termination

7. Halal Certification Information

Disclaimer

While we strive to provide accurate halal certification information:

  • • We do not guarantee accuracy or completeness of certification status
  • • Certification status may change without our immediate knowledge
  • • Users should independently verify halal status for their specific requirements
  • • We are not responsible for any inaccuracies in certification information

Users with strict dietary requirements should contact restaurants directly to confirm current halal status.

8. Islamic Content & Third-Party Sources

Disclaimer

HalalHQ incorporates Islamic content from third-party sources. While we strive for accuracy:

  • Quran text is sourced from Tanzil.net (Uthmani script). Translations are provided by third-party scholars and translators (e.g. Saheeh International via AlQuran.Cloud) and may vary in interpretation.
  • Prayer times are mathematically calculated based on your location, chosen calculation method, and adjustment parameters. Times are approximate and may differ from your local mosque. Always verify with your local Islamic authority.
  • Qibla direction is calculated using geographic coordinates and may be affected by device sensor accuracy and magnetic interference.
  • Hadith and duas are sourced from authenticated collections (e.g. Sahih al-Bukhari, Sahih Muslim, Hisnul Muslim). Attribution and grading are provided where available.
  • Ramadan timetables including suhoor and iftar times are derived from prayer time calculations and should be cross-referenced with local announcements.
  • Zakat calculations are for informational guidance only. Consult a qualified Islamic scholar for your specific zakat obligations.

HalalHQ is not a religious authority. Islamic content is provided for informational and devotional convenience. For matters of Islamic jurisprudence (fiqh), consult qualified scholars.

9. AI & Automated Processing

HalalHQ uses artificial intelligence and automated processing in limited, specific areas to improve the Service:

  • Content moderation: Public user-generated content (reflections, reviews, comments) is automatically screened for profanity and inappropriate language before publication.
  • Community submissions: Tarawih venue posters and similar community submissions may be processed using AI (Google Gemini) to extract structured information such as prayer times, dates, and venue details.
  • Fraud prevention: IP fingerprinting and rate limiting are used to detect and prevent abuse, spam, and fraudulent activity.
  • Business information: Restaurant and service details may be enriched using AI analysis of publicly available information.

AI-processed content is reviewed for accuracy where feasible. We do not use AI to generate Islamic religious text (Quran verses, hadith, or duas) — all such content comes from authenticated scholarly sources.

10. Intellectual Property

The Service and its original content (excluding user-generated content), features, and functionality are owned by HalalHQ and protected by international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

You may not:

  • • Copy, modify, or distribute our content without permission
  • • Use our trademarks without written consent
  • • Attempt to extract source code
  • • Create derivative works based on our Service

11. Limitation of Liability

HalalHQ is provided "as is" and "as available" without any warranties, either express or implied.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, HalalHQ shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to:

  • • Loss of profits, data, or use
  • • Food-related illness or allergic reactions
  • • Reliance on halal certification information
  • • Inaccuracies in prayer times, Qibla direction, or Ramadan timetables
  • • Reliance on Quran translations, hadith classifications, or zakat calculations
  • • Any errors or omissions in content

In no event shall our total liability exceed AUD $100 or the amount you paid us in the past 12 months, whichever is greater.

  • • Any content you post on the Service

Mandatory Arbitration

YOU AGREE THAT ANY DISPUTE OR CLAIM RELATING TO THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE WILL BE RESOLVED BY BINDING ARBITRATION, RATHER THAN IN COURT, except that you may assert claims in small claims court if your claims qualify.

Class Action Waiver

YOU AGREE THAT YOU MAY BRING CLAIMS AGAINST US ONLY IN YOUR INDIVIDUAL CAPACITY, AND NOT AS A PLAINTIFF OR CLASS MEMBER IN ANY PURPORTED CLASS OR REPRESENTATIVE PROCEEDING.

Governing Law: Victoria, Australia

  1. 1. Good faith negotiations (30 days)

14. Termination

Our Rights

We may terminate or suspend your account immediately for:

  • • Violation of these Terms

Your Rights

You may terminate your account at any time by contacting us at [email protected]

Upon termination, your right to use the Service will cease immediately, though content you posted may remain on the Service.
